夫婦なままに 2 ・・・

20代前半の友人が一人いるが、その男の子はとてもガンダムが好きである。

この前話をしていたら、東京のお台場に原寸大のガンダムがあることを知っていて、私たちが日本に帰国するときに一緒に行きたいと行っていた。
しかしそれを聞いていたセシア*は、「私が先に日本に行くのよ」とその子に行っていた。

皆さんほんとに日本が好きですね〜。まあそれなりに整っていはいるけど・・・

*名前は変更してあります。

We have some African friends here.
And two girls came over to our house.

They enjoyed swimming in our apartment.
One of them were scared of putting her head
under the water.
The other one cannot swim, yet.

One of the girls stayed overnight.
And she wants to come again.

Oh, ok... we're glad that you liked it.

あるアフリカ人の女性は、自分の兄が日本に住んでいるそうで「日本に行きたい、行きたい」と言っている。

彼女が日本に行ったのは5月で、ちょうど気候のいい季節だった。
それで「日本は涼しい！　とても住みやすい所！　ここはメチャクチャ暑くていや！　日本に永住する！」と言っていた。

日本の夏は高温多湿で、この国より暑くなることもあるんだけど・・・


「日本は理想的な国」という固定概念を持ってる彼女に何を言っても理解できないことだろう。
日本の夏を経験して、果たして彼女は同じことが言えるのかちょっと心配。

We took our car to our mechanic the other day,
and we had our window on driver's side fixed.

While they were fixing the window, Jasmine and I checked our tires,
and we thought that we could use the tires much longer.
We hoped that we could use the same tires at least 2 more years.
And it was on Friday.


And then, the next day, when I was about to leave our parking spot,
I noticed something wrong on the rear left tire.
I found the bump on the tire, and I called our mechanic right away.
He said, "his shop was closed already, so come back tomorrow."
So, I decided to change the tire for myself,
and brought our car after the meeting.

When we took our car to the mechanic on Sunday,
they found out the tire was very old.
They said the tire's lifespan is 6 years, and it should not be used
more than recommended year. And our tire was almost 9 years old.


They checked all 4 tires, and we were told that
most of them were in bad condition.
So, we decided to have the tires changed.
It was very expensive, but hopefully,
we won't have any trouble with the tires for next 2 years.

今年は、日曜日の劇にジャズミンと一緒に参加した。
私とジャズミン、そしてローカルの友人とアフリカ人の友人2人が「大道具のチーム」になり、劇のシーンで家具を動かすという役割だ。


最初はキッチンで使うテーブルが軽く、リビングルームのソファが重いので、キッチンテーブルは女子が、ソファは男子が運ぶという感じで練習してきた。
しかし当日になりキッチンテーブルが重く、ソファが軽いということが判明した。いきなり変更するのは難しいので練習してきたように運んだ。

劇が終わり観衆のフィードバックは「女子が重いものを運ぶのはよくない」という意見があり、2回目の劇では急きょ別の男子と私がキッチンテーブルを運ぶことにした。


1回目の劇では、観衆の反応がいまいちだった。「中国語の集会ではみんな泣いていた」そうだが、観衆のほとんどが感動すべき場面で笑っていた。「もしかすると、英語がきちんと理解できてないのかも・・・」という意見もあった。もしかすると自分たちの母国語で劇を聞いたら反応がもう少し変わっていたのかもしれない。

2回目の劇では、とても反応がよかった。感動的なシーンで笑う人がいなくて、私たちとしても満足だった。本当は打ち上げをする予定だったが、何人が調子が悪い人たちがいたので、また後日という話になった。

7月ずっと劇の練習をしていたので、それがなくなるとちょっと物寂しい感じではある。
「また来年も一緒に劇をしましょうね！」と言っていた友人がいた。

We put a filter in front of our apartment room for drinking water,
but the filter get dirty really quick.

It goes brown and we have to change it within 3 weeks.
Also, we have to boil the water before drinking it.

I really miss drinking a clean water in Japan.
I was drinking underground water when I was a little boy.

I hope the time will come soon when everyone can drink
the pure water without worrying about contamination.

ジャズミンの両親がこの国に遊びにきた。
国際的な兄弟関係を見ることができたのはよい機会だと思う。

アメリカに新婚旅行に行ったときも、ジャズミンの両親も真の兄弟関係を見ることができたし、またこの国でも真の兄弟関係を見ることができたのは、ジャズミンのパパにもよい刺激になるでしょう。

ついでにタイの方にも一緒に遊びに行ったし、そこでも兄弟関係も見ることもできた。
大・大・大満足だと話していた。(^-^)

ジャズミンの妹も来年くらいに来たいといってるし、私の両親は来年辺りかな。

When we came back from the large meeting,
Jasmine got sick.

I heard that some of our friends also got sick
on the next day.
Then, we heard that one of our friends were
diagnosed as H1N1 flu.

People in this country is really dying with this new flu.
Jasmine thinks that people in tropical areas are not immune
to the influenza virus because they have never had such flu before.

People from could areas have been sick from flu sometimes,
so they wouldn't die from new flu because they are used to it.

Some African friends are also scared of the new flu
because they have never been sick from flu in Africa.

I hope that this flu thing thing won't last too long.
